Anchored Circuitwright
Circuit Touch and Survey establish what is connected; Load Reading and braces establish what can bear weight. Real grounding, physical joints and prepared work bays make repairs possible. Circuit Break remains the exceptional Silver isolation of a larger identified circuit. None of her work creates energy or refills resources.
The life behind the work
Dema Flint is a 68-year-old adult dwarf woman and utility enchanter in Cinderlace Quarter. She is compact and strongly built, with a soot-gray braid and square amber goggles pushed onto her forehead. She wants reliable public magic to remain repairable by the people who depend on it.
Institutional contact: Arcane, Silver authority in utility enchantment, inspection, and technical referrals. Adventurer: Level 51, Silver; the specific kit and limits below define it. Her established work concerns lamps, lift wards, parcel rigs, and comparable municipal devices.
She asks what the machine did before anyone tells her what they think caused it. She labels a disconnected component, explains what must stay off, and refuses to disguise a temporary patch as a full repair. Pressure makes her blunt. She knows the systems she has inspected; unfamiliar magic takes examination before she can identify its workings.
Off duty she cultivates tiny windowsill peppers and trades seeds with patients at the local clinic. Voice: economical and tactile. Hook: a supposedly identical replacement part behaves differently under load, and the purchase order is irritatingly more complete than the inspection record.
Chronological age 68; apparent adult age about 38. Her dwarf ancestry and developed Silver path support this appearance; neither age grants an extra ability.
History
Dema’s career was built around devices that could not be allowed to remain impressive mysteries. A lamp needs a replaceable fitting; a lift needs an accessible inspection point; a parcel rig needs a person who can explain why it stopped. Her workshop reputation comes from leaving the next worker a labeled component and a comprehensible repair, not dependence on her personal presence.
Across decades of utility work she came to regard a temporary fix as a promise with an expiry. The dangerous part is not admitting that a repair is provisional; it is letting everyone forget. Her Silver path rewards the habits behind that conviction: inspect the feed, establish sound support, stay with the work long enough to understand the load. Circuit Break is powerful precisely because it acts on an identified circuit rather than whatever magic happens to be nearby.
At sixty-eight, with dwarf ancestry and path development sustaining an appearance around thirty-eight, she has outlasted fashionable equipment that was sold as unrepairable progress. That has made her skeptical, not hostile to invention. She likes an unfamiliar design when its maker can explain its failure conditions. She is less patient with a familiar machine described as safe because it has not failed yet.
The peppers on her windowsill require a different kind of attention. They cannot be tightened into growing faster. Trading seeds through the clinic gives her ordinary conversations in which nobody needs a certification. She expresses affection by making things easier to use, then has to remember that a companion may want to be heard before being repaired. Beatrix’s willingness to back a stop-work call is one reason Dema can disagree with her without losing respect.
Dema's notebooks contain repairs that worked and repairs whose apparent success lasted just long enough to mislead the next person. One early temporary fitting survived inspection because she knew exactly how to handle it. A coworker using it in the ordinary way exposed what she had failed to write down. She did not stop making provisional repairs. She began labeling the condition under which each repair remained safe and the point at which someone had to stop using it.
That habit shaped how she trained. She would make another worker explain the load path back to her and then change one support in the example. Knowing a diagram by heart was not enough if the person could not say where the weight would go next. Her Silver methods grew from staying with that question across real utility work. A circuit is something she can inspect and isolate; a structure needs supports that can actually take the load she redistributes.
An adult partner eventually challenged the same reflex in private. Dema had made a practical improvement before asking whether it was wanted. The disagreement was uncomfortable because the work was good and the assumption was not. She learned to offer a repair without making its acceptance a test of trust. On the windowsill, the peppers still provide a gentler reminder that care includes conditions she cannot tighten into obedience.
How the path developed
Repairable utility work
Repeated diagnosis, labeling and load accounting made Intelligence the main Class emphasis. Perception and Will support identifying what is actually connected, holding a sequence of work steady and admitting when a component cannot be certified.
Bearing and bracing
Endurance reflects sustained work at an actual position, with supporting Might and Vitality from tool use and awkward access. Groundfast expresses an established bracing discipline at the Bronze crossing. Its resistance still depends on load-bearing ground and actual opposing force.
Silver circuit and support practice
At her Silver crossing, Circuit Break made careful isolation possible across an inspected connected circuit. Load-Sharing Brace followed at Level 46. Both depend on the habits she teaches at the bench: identify what is connected, establish sound support and know where the load will go when one part stops doing its job.
What Dema wants
Keep public magic safe, understandable and repairable.
What keeps them awake
Leaving behind a repair that only she knows is temporary.
A life away from work
Dema offers care as something she can fix, tighten or make safe. That can sound like criticism when a person wanted company. She learns to ask whether advice is wanted, while refusing to certify dangerous equipment merely to be liked. Honest imperfect work earns her respect faster than grand promises. In familiar company she gives a pepper seedling, remembers how it fared and tolerates a joke at her expense. Her workshop has closing hours; an invitation after them is personal, not unlimited free labor. Attraction grows through trust and directness. Disagreement does not prove incompetence, and Iven's debt never entitles her to run his life.
Resonance · understanding & practice
Resonance Embodiment: An adult partner trusted her enough to disagree with her repairs; she learned to offer support that another person could choose to leave.
