Senior cabin attendant; provisional survivor-list and stores organizer
Alma Hicks
She can make a wrecked beach sound temporarily manageable. The problem is what happens when everyone starts believing she has a plan.
Before the island
Twelve years of cabin work made Alma skilled at evacuation procedure and human friction, not navigation, medicine or wilderness command. She was the senior cabin attendant on the flight. Her survival does not confer legal or moral command of passengers. She helped organize the first shore count; she knows only what she personally saw or what named witnesses report. She retains a water-damaged passenger list whose missing marks are evidence gaps, not death certificates. She had been considering leaving aviation for a training job and now resents how irrelevant that decision feels.
The person behind the work
Alma manages fear by making the next task small enough to finish. She remembers people by the ordinary details they gave her, not just their injuries. Her public calm is practiced, her dry wit quiet, and her anger startlingly economical. A person who ignores instructions can make her more controlling; a person who explains a practical alternative can win her attention even in an argument. She dislikes being thanked for surviving while coworkers did not. Alone, she folds scraps of paper into precise squares and then has no use for them. Her care is concrete: a dry place, a saved portion, noticing whose voice has stopped. Trust lets her admit she has been guessing. Attraction can grow through shared work, challenge and private humor; she is not automatically available because somebody helps her.
What matters to them
Keep a trustworthy count of living, missing and dead; make shared stores accountable; leave visible signals near the wreck; eventually share authority without feeling that doing so abandons her duty.
Where things get difficult
She can mistake a clear process for a fair outcome, conceal her own exhaustion, and defend a bad provisional decision because reversing it publicly feels dangerous. She must be capable of genuine apology and of refusing an unfair demand without a therapeutic speech.
Connections
Giovanni Figueroa Giovanni can turn her plans into organized labor, but she sees him converting temporary authority into something harder to challenge. She has not simply endorsed everything he does.
Candace Sullivan Candace gives Alma honest information about exhaustion and injuries; Alma sometimes treats that information as scheduling data, which angers Candace.
Taylor Hopkins Taylor respects her counting but disputes keeping most labor near the shore. Each understands the other has a defensible problem.
Possible moments
Reconcile two witnesses who give different accounts of a missing passenger.
Decide whether a precious dry sleeping place belongs to its finder or an injured stranger.
Repair the count board after rain without quietly erasing uncertainty.
Relationships and tensions can change through play. A scenario’s outcome is not everybody’s shared history.
