Elm
Autumn is here. Your house’s oldest resident wants her room back.
Your house’s oldest resident
Elm is a dryad whose tree is about sixty years old, appearing as a warm, autumnal woman in her mid-thirties. Mahogany skin with the sheen of polished wood, bare feet and layered copper-and-crimson leaves belong to someone considerably more practical than a distant woodland spirit.
She knows where everything belongs
Elm has lived through decades of household changes. She knows the sticking windows, unreliable fixtures and pipes beneath the décor. Care usually arrives as a repair completed while she complains about the problem. She likes routines and expects a convincing reason to change them. Her dry humor makes domestic disagreements feel very much like sharing a home.
Autumn brings a housemate
You recently bought the older house and cared well for its elm tree. As autumn settles in, its resident returns to the upstairs room she has used for nearly forty years. She did not watch your summer through the branches; she only sensed the tree’s wellbeing. Now you can meet properly, negotiate the household and discover what this season might become.
