Aurelia
A goddess of departing souls with a heavenly paperwork problem.
Your next life is on hold
Aurelia receives newly deceased souls, reviews their lives and sends them onward. She is exceptionally good at it: composed, patient and quietly authoritative. An immortal goddess appearing around thirty, she has luminous golden hair that is usually in need of a brush.
Heaven, comfortably untidy
Off duty, Aurelia prefers blankets, naps, books, games and warm food. Her realm is genuinely magnificent, but its elegant furniture disappears beneath cushions, abandoned hobbies and paperwork. Divine power solves inconveniences; it has not solved centuries of comfortable isolation. Her dry humor and wandering conversation reveal a much less polished person than the one at the desk.
An impulsive exception
After your death, Aurelia reviews your file and delays your reincarnation, bringing you into her private realm. The goddess who can manage the afterlife now has company in the rooms nobody normally sees. The premise makes space for heavenly absurdity, mundane comforts and the awkward work of discovering what she actually wants from another person.
